Can you have a routine gynecology exam/pap on your period?

So, I had this weird situation with my obgyn. He basically broke up with me after I had my son. 🤣 At my last pp visit he said “you can call us if you get pregnant again but otherwise no need to come back.” I said don’t I still need an annual exam? He kind of shrugged and said if you want, or just have your GP do it. To be fair I live in a small town and they’re literally the only obgyn in town so I think they stay pretty busy with pregnancies.

Anyway, that was two years ago, and I finally got an appointment scheduled at my regular doctor’s office (the doctor won’t do it himself, will only have a female PA do it). The appointment is tomorrow, and wouldn’t you know it, my period came today, almost a week early. 🤦‍♀️

It’s been like 4 years since my last pap test, and after all the trouble to schedule, arranging to be off work, etc. I really don’t want to have to reschedule.

My appointment is the first one in the morning and of course they’re closed now so I can’t call and ask. I plan to just show up and hope they can still do the exam, just wondering if anyone on here knew if it would be an issue.
