Goopy Eye?

My 6 week old has one goopy eye - the discharge is slightly yellow and it gets crusty. Not too much quantity wise. What could it be? Should I take him in or wait it out? I first noticed it about 8 hours ago.

This just happened to our 4 week old! Clogged tear duct. Pediatrician told us to keep it clean and use a warm washcloth. It cleared up after about 2 days. A warning it could be more serious is if the actual eyeball is red.

My son had that exact issue and we took him into the doctors and it was a closed tear duct. The doctors told us to wipe with a warm washcloth and they gave us ointment to put in his eye 3 times a day. It cleared up within a week.

Most likely a clogged eye duct. My son had one at 3 weeks and then now again at 7 weeks. He was prescribed eye drops.

Our kiddo had this green gunk in her eye. Our pediatrician said it was just a clogged duct and to wipe it gently with a warm wet washcloth. That took care of it and after 2 days it was completely cleared up. He said he’d only be concerned if it was red, puffy, or irritating to her.

I’d take to the doctor just in case. My 3 year old has pink eye, so I’m paranoid my 7 week old is going to get it too!

if you breastfeeding try to clean it with breastmilk.
