Moisturizing a newborns skin?

My son is 2 weeks old, when can we start using lotion on him ? I heard you should be careful using lotion as babies skin needs to learn to compensate for dryness on it's own, however we live in CO and it's dry as all hell out here 😂

When you bathe the baby put a few drops of baby oil in the water. That way you wouldn’t really need lotion

My daughter is 3 weeks old and we saw her pediatrician today who told us not to put lotion on her face but said it was fine to put on her hands and feet

I live in CO also. I started using lotion pretty early on, because I didn’t realize it was normal for babies skin to peel in the first few weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️😂. But then I waited for his skin to finish peeling and now I’ll put lotion on him after he has a bath.
