Keto Diet... I need some personal opinions and not google’s!

So I have met many people who follow a keto diet. I work at a coffee shop and people often come in getting what are called keto drinks. (I tried them and think they were gross.)

What are some thoughts on the keto diet? Have you tried it? Did you get keto flu? Do you think certain people should not do keto? Is it really a long term lifestyle change or just a fad diet?

I know I can google about keto and I have done so but I want real opinions from people who have tried it, not news articles.

(I have some health issues that I’m not sure how they affect me on a keto diet; multi-nodular goiter, mitral valve prolapse, anemia and barely any vitamin D in my body, as well as my doctor telling me last week that I have some sort of sugar line on the back of my neck and could get diabetes, hence the research into keto! I’m also lactose intolerant and dairy seems to be in all keto recipes.)

I reccomend Dr Mike. He is a doctor but he makes youtube videos. He has tons of videos debunking and even trying diets to tell us what actually works! He even has one on the keto diet. He gives you actual helpful and medical information. I HIGHLY recommend everyone checks him out.

I am on the keto diet and have been since January, and have lost 50lbs and counting. I recommend watching the magic pill on Netflix, as it has a great deal of information. I eat keto (LCHF) and get the majority of my carbs from dark leafy greens. I’ve had some hick ups where I’ve caused myself to stall due to person life issues. I personally feel better mentally and physically. I didn’t experience the keto flu as I made sure to keep my electrolytes up.Along with doing keto, I started working out in July. For myself it is more of a lifestyle change to eat less processed food and to stay active. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

It’s a fad diet, except in the case of medical need. I don’t see the point in depriving yourself of things - just work out & eat junk in moderation. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Everything in moderation, especially moderation.

There are not studies that show what this will do to your health long term. In reality you are best off eating low carb and clean. Some people who do keto use artificial junk to fake the real stuff. I have some friends who do keto and they just yo yo with their weight. They are slimmer, but low muscle mass, when on it and gain quickly when they go off to maintain.

Keto is definitely a lifestyle change not a fad diet. If you use it as a fad it doesn't work properly. It is not eating loads of bacon and fat. Fat is a lever. It is eating healthy fats...chicken..salmon, avocado ect and green leafy vegetables. There are different kinds of keto where you can eat some processed foods. There is a lot of info on the web, pinterest, youtube, insta. But for the most part people that say it isn't healthy or sustainable are not properly educated on it. How can cutting out sugar and unhealthy carbs be unhealthy?? Once you are fat adapted you will feel great..You don't need to buy any magic pill or plan. The best part is it works!! If you make the lifestyle change it absolutely will stay off. I'm 3 months in and have lost 31lbs and still have a little ways to go to pre pregnancy weight. But I feel AMAZING!! Enhanced mood and energy!!

I tried keto and had the flu too. It’s not sustainable. It is extremely hard to do it and hit your caloric intake. I had a hard time finding foods for it. Eating processed foods with low carbs doesn’t seem healthy to me. People are losing a shit ton of weight because they are under eating. I go to the gym 5 times a week and I felt worn out and didn’t want to lose muscle mass along with fat so I stopped.

Keto is not sustainable and you’re an adult. Don’t eat things you don’t like.
