Can you sleep train and still have a long breastfeeding relationship?

I’m on the fence about sleep training my almost 6 month old. I sleep trained my first and he’s been an amazing sleeper ever sinceR this age  so I’m not against it but I pumped and bottle fed him. This baby boy is exclusively breastfeeding and hates bottles and pacifiers. He fills diapers at night which makes me think he’s not ready to sleep through the night. I’m also concerned about my supply once he stops feeding at night. He wakes up anywhere from 3-10 times at night. I would love to sleep more haha! I have a toddler to care for so I really would love more sleep. 
My question is, should I just keep co-sleeping and maybe he will stop needing to nurse on his own? Or should I sleep train? And do you just abruptly stop nursing at night if they wake up once you sleep train? If I Ferber do I just Ferber every time they wake how do you know when they really just need to eat?

It is isn’t recommended by lactation specialists. I would also check out the research on sleep training that is more recent (2016-present) research is really showing that it is really stressful for a baby.

I did not sleep train my older two and they both learned to sleep well and self soothe on their own.  Both were breastfed and nursed on demand overnight.  My first started sleeping through the night around 8 months and my second around 4 months.  My opinion is that they learn to self soothe when they’re ready, like any other developmental milestone.

We breastfeed. She’s 6 months old. Been sleeping in her own room since 3 days old. She’s been sleeping through the night since 4 weeks old. She sleeps 12 hours a night. I get up once to pump. My supply is fine. In fact I still have an over supply.

I’m still breastfeeding and my baby is nearly 1. I co slept until 6 months then sleep trained gradually. I started with daytime naps and bedtime, putting her down awake then going in every 10 minutes until she self soothed.  I carried on doing night feeds until she got the hang of falling asleep alone. Then I controlled cried if she woke up any time before 4 am. I carried on doing the 4 am feed then put her back to bed then got her up at 7. When she got used to that I did controlled crying if she woke up any time before 6am. Now I don’t let her get up until 6:40 am and I go in to get her up. I’m training her to wait for me.

I have exclusively breastfed for 10 months today and am still going. We never CO-slept. We sleep trained at 3 months. My body regulated to what and when she was eating.  Baby shouldn’t need to eat at night at 6 months - it would be just habit at that age.
