Lovenox!?

Had my first appointment and per family history they want to start me on lovenox everyday 40mg I’m scared as this is my first pregnancy and just looking for prayers and encouragement that it’s going to be okay or if anyone else has done through this ?

I’ve been on Lovenox since August 2018, I was 25 weeks with my youngest daughter but extremely nauseous, couldn’t eat or drink anything and having lots of pain. After many tests that came back clear the hospital was about to discharge me from L&D when I collapsed gasping to breathe. They discovered I had a massive saddle bilateral pulmonary embolism and it was a near fatal situation for baby and myself. After a big catheter procedure in my neck to have a continuous flow of heparin to the embolism in ICU and going into labor twice that was stopped thankfully, 10 days later I finally got to go home on lovenox. 
   I was and have continued to be heavily monitored by my drs and a hematologist. My youngest was born by induction at 37 weeks in October 2018. Recently found out I’m pregnant (was not trying due to the risks) and although my ob can’t fit me in until dec 4th hematologist has me visiting often and continuing lovenox.
You get good at it after a while or used to it I’m not sure which? Best advice I have to avoid pain and most bruising. Look at the tip of the needle, it’s angled, flat side of the angle against the skin and almost parallel if that makes any sense. Love handle work best as far back as you can reach, alternate sides or your skin gets tough and sore. Also, this may sound crazy, don’t just pick a spot and jab it in, some areas of the skin seem to have nerve endings that are closer to the surface, if you take the tip of the needle and just touch a few spots you’ll find some that as soon you touch it make you jump and others that are basically numb that you don’t feel at all. You learn where those are after a while. Those are the best! You’ll feel nothing! Not the needle not the medicine and by all means let the medicine go in a slow as possible, an increment as a time then wait a few seconds and do a little more. I have to do 80 mg twice a day, it probably takes me I don’t know 5 minutes to do it slowly. But because of that I don’t have large bruises or sore spots, and the bruises I do have because occasionally I have hit a not so good spot or been in too big of a hurry but even those are maybe the size of the end of a pen point. And I think I have two of those right now from a week ago. Hope this helps! It’s not fun but I wasn’t sure I could even do it to begin with now it’s just part of the day! Don’t worry and breathe! I’m currently on Lovenox 90mcg 2x each day. I’m August I had multiple bilateral pulmonary embolisms and was admitted to the hospital twice. I wasn’t pregnant at the time. My birth control is actually what caused the clots. So I had been on heparin, then was switched to lovenox, then went to pradaxa. We weren’t trying for a baby but I ended up getting pregnant at the end of September. My doctor immediately stopped the pradaxa and started me back on lovenox. They’re unsure still if I have a genetic clotting disorder, but they’re suspicious of APS. So I have to see my hematologist again next month and repeat some tests. And of course this pregnancy is now deemed high risk since the clots were so recent. Either way, the injections aren’t horrible. You get used to it. I’ll be on the lovenox for the entire pregnancy and they said they’ll switch me to heparin right at the end. The baby should be fine.

I’m on lovenox right now for APS and I’ve made it to 9 weeks 4 days! The actual needle going in doesn’t hurt too much, it’s just the medicine part that’s the worst! You got this mama!

Hello, yes I have Factor 5 lieden which is a blood clotting disorder inherited genetically, I’m nearly 9 weeks and have been taking it daily and so far so good! Aside from the nasty of having to have an injection it’s fine!

I'm on the same medication and my dje date is June 22 2020 I'm pregnant with twins. I had my son 7 months ago and they found quarter sized blood clots in my lungs so I'm on it throughout this pregnancy. Just ask lots of questions if your not confident or uncomfortable because thats what I did. Youll be alright I have to be on lovanox for over a year or more.
