Is he lying?

So I've been talking to this guy for a couple months now (5-7). & We've been really hitting it off, doing great. But I'm starting to question myself in my head if he'll ever ask me out like offically? We were talking about it the other day and he said he wants to make it special for me but I'm not sure. Doesn't almost every guy say that? What if he never does ? What if he's making me wait for so long .. I know I sound bitchy/desperate but I need feedback on what to think and someone tell me personal experiences and if they've ever felt this way too? Thanks in advance
