Phone is ok in a lot of situations. 
If you feel it would be inappropriate to end it that way, like there's a lot to talk about and you think he is safe to be around in that kind of situation, in person, somewhere comfortable for both people- his house is probably better in my experience, because you can just leave if you don't want to be in the situation anymore.
