No. Due dates isnt an exact science, it's a guess. you can be 40 weeks pregnant by due date calculations, but your baby is only 38 weeks in real growth. The danger is going over 42 weeks, as the placenta begins to die after prolonged pregnancy.

Most doctors wont induce until 41 or even 42 weeks. Technically it's considered safe to deliver baby (in a low risk pregnancy of course) from 37 (early term) to 42 weeks. I got induced at 40 weeks 6 days with my second and he was a perfectly healthy 7lb 11oz baby. Labor and delivery were less than 3 hours, I only needed 2 stitches, and hes still a perfectly healthy almost 2 year old now.

I would say most doctors will not induce until 41 weeks. My doctor did the same thing. I didn’t end up being induced, my daughter came the morning I was going to be induced.

When I was seeing midwives with my first pregnancy they didn’t take about induction until 42 weeks. I luckily had my baby at 39 weeks. Good luck!!

A lot of doctors do this. Mine was the same way- but I had her the day before my due date 
I think there can be risks involved but the doctor will probably monitor you closely if you go over 40 weeks. 
They’ll be watching your amniotic fluid to make sure it’s not depleting. If so, they’ll likely go ahead and induce before 41 weeks .. because those are the types of complications that could take place, that basically mean baby is ready to come out soon but maybe hour body just needs a push to get them out.
