Anyone else have to pat their baby’s butt to sleep?

I think I may have started a bad habit. My son will only fall asleep if he’s being rocked and his butt patted. How can I teach him to fall asleep without having to do that now?

When my daughter is over tired I bathe her, wrap her in a certain blanket, hold her and pat her bum. If she isn’t wrapped in a particular blanket she will not go to sleep. But doing this she is out like a light within 15 mins.

My son has been soothed by getting his butt patted since day one. I attribute it to when I was pregnant and could feel his butt I would pat it.

Once my baby started rolling over, I Pat the butt to soothe, but not till sleep.
