Normal pshycologisr visit?
My younger brother, who’s freshly 16, has had two or three appointments so far with a psychologist. He basically only had those appointments because something happened with my mom that needed CPS, it wasn’t court ordered, the CPS people didn’t even request it, there’s a lady that worked with CPS from our tribe (were Native American) that is pushing it on my grandma (she has custody of my brother) to do the appointments. So my grandma just made the appointments at the ladies request.
At his first appointment, he had stayed up all night playing video games, and he was nervous because he’s shy, so his blood pressure was a little high when he got there. Literally that day the doctor prescribed him blood pressure medicine, plus a WHOLE bunch of other random medicines. Like for depression, anxiety, even heart burn medicine. My brother feels like he doesn’t need medicine, if anything he feels worse taking it then he normally did, so he stopped. He definitely didn’t want to take the blood pressure medicine because he really felt like that was completely unneeded.
So then, my brother goes to his next appointment, and he doesn’t even mention anything about medicine, he doesn’t even say that he isn’t taking it, they sit down and the first thing the doctor does is tell him he’s prescribing him more anxiety medicines, a different kind, to go with his first. My brother just ignores it, goes home, doesn’t take the medicine. He’s perfectly fine 🤷🏼♀️
And then finally, today, he goes to his next appointment, and the doctor does it again, prescribing him even more medicines, and my brothers finally had enough.
I’ll tell you now, he’s the kindest, most respectful 16 year old you will meet. He tells the doctor himself, he doesn’t feel like he even needs all the medication he’s been given, he doesn’t want to take it, and he doesn’t understand why the doctors trying to force more and more onto him. And the doctor just calmly tells him, “well you can leave then, and we won’t be having you back.”
My brother isn’t bothered, he didn’t like going just because they where trying to get him to take SOO many medications. I think overall they prescribed him like 6-8 different pills to take a day, he just wasn’t into it, specially when he felt he didn’t even have any of the problems they where pushing on him. I’m just wondering if this was normal for the doctor to do, or was this just a shitty doctor not doing his job properly??
