Baby shower?

This is our third child, first girl after two boys. My parents threw the one for my first son, his parents asked to throw one just for fun for our second ( all we got was clothes they picked out, it was cute) but for this one we want to throw our own....I feel like it would be easier on our families and that way we wouldn't have to bring the stuff home. But I don't know all the "norms" so I don't want it to be weird if we do...

I don't think you should worry about it being "Tacky" or "weird" or "wrong".  If people have a problem with being supportive of your expanding family then they don't have to participate!

I've read that it's tacky to have more than one, but I've also read (and believe) that each baby should be celebrated - not just the first one! I think, especially if you have two boys and are now having a girl, it's acceptable because you need girl things now. Also, I don't think the second, third, etc. should be as big as the first one because you do already have a lot of things you'll need, so I like the idea of a "sprinkle" instead of a shower. But however you choose, every baby deserves to be celebrated and don't let anyone tell you different :)

I agree with the "sip and see" party after baby is born. IMO having 3 baby showers/sprinkles is asking a bit much....

You can have a "sprinkle" as a lighter shower, but I think the only tackless way to do it yourself if have a "sip and see" meet and greet type party after the baby comes.  A shower says hey we want gifts, but after the baby comes it's hey come meet the baby (and if people bring gifts great if not ok).
