Masturbation a sin?? UPDATE!!!

Question

I am a Catholic, 17 year old girl, who finds it difficult to not masturbate sometimes. I've read websites where it says that masturbating is a sin and that one should remain pure. I was wondering what other people think about this. I find that I get really horny at times and I just need to do it to relieve some stress. I hate myself for lusting since I know that is a since too. I'm so lost. Someone let me know what they think, please.
UPDATE: So I masturbated 2 days ago, without thinking any lustful thoughts which is hard for me because that's what makes masturbation feel good for me. When I fantasize about something, which I know is wrong, and I know I need to stop doing. So I simply masturbated and it didnt feel good, and ended up making me feel more sexually frustrated. The next day, my father has to go to the hospital because he was feeling really sick. I don't know if this is a coincidence or if I'm being punished for what I did. Just a coincidence? I asked God to give me a sign if masturbation was a sin, all I had was a dream where I was at school and the principal was saying through the intercom that she knew we would all masturbate during the break. and remember seeing everyone was shocked and confused that she had said that. Now that I think about it, I was in the class with a teacher that I had been sexually attracted to for a while of course I would never ever do anything with a teacher, but I would have sexual thoughts every now and then, sometimes to the point when I couldn't wait to go home and masturbate.  Yet ain't the dream I felt no sexual desire for him, and no desire to masturbate. I don't know what to think of this. someone please help.

I was raised catholic but honestly I did not agree on the stances on sex and masturbation. Both are natural, and neither are sins. But if you dont agree with premarital sex thats fine. However masturbating is completely different. You’re pleasuring yourself, releasing stress, and getting to know your own body. It’s not wrong and you shouldn’t feel bad for doing it.

Sin is relative to the person. I dont think masterbarion or premarital sex or lusting after someone is a sin but someone else might. Born again Christian's believe that even thinking about murdering someone is the same sin as actually committing murder....🙄

I believe it’s only a sin in marriage if u are lusting after another being besides your husband or wife and or denying them sexual pleasure... if u aren’t married and just pleasing yourself have at it. At least it’s safe (safer) than sleeping around with different men and risking pregnant and stds

So here’s my thoughts. I think it’s your thoughts behind it. I don’t think God designed something with such wonderful health benefits to only be enjoyed and used by those in marriage or not at all (speaking purely on masturbation). However, it depends on the person whether it becomes a sin &/or a problem. There’s an episode of the Maybe God podcast on this subject that will better explain what I’m trying to say. But obviously, I wouldn’t recommend it to, say, someone who has a sex addiction. That’s when it becomes sin/a problem. But as a stress relief? I don’t think that’s a sin.

In my opinion a sin is something that hurts you or other living creatures. Masturbation is nothing like that so I do not consider it a sin but rather something positive because it makes you feel good

i’m no expert on anything, but i DO know that masturbation and being horny and everything is 100% normal and natural (not saying that if you don’t get horny or masturbate that there’s something wrong with you that’s totally normal too) and God is supposed to accept everyone, we’re all God’s children, if one of your children did something “against your rules” that was completely natural i would hope that you would talk with them about it and not punish them for being curious kids. i hope you find yourself and get things figured out with you<3
