Women in a relationship with their children/s father

Why do you refer to him as your baby daddy? Is he not your boyfriend, husband, life partner, etc? Is it just me that seem to think that if someone is in an actual relationship with the person, referring to them as baby daddy is a bit demeaning (considering the term is more used for men who are nothing more than their child's father)?
