NIPT confusion

I see so many people on here saying they are getting this test done and that they can also find out the gender, but when I talked to my doctor about the test and asked about gender she said that you couldn’t see gender from the test and even asked a nurse by phone a few days later only to be told the same thing. I have the test done next week and get results plus ultrasound to go along with it in two weeks. They said I could book an ultrasound for $90 at 16 weeks to find gender.
