Does cry it out work? I can’t do this anymore ..

She slept fine from birth to 5 months... then she got sick and for the last month and a half has needed to be rocked or fed to sleep. She used to sleep through the night every night, now wakes up 2-4 times at least.. I’m alone with her all night and day. I can’t keep getting up every hour or two to rock her. It takes 40+ minutes sometimes to rock her and put her down.

Cry it out might work, but it's been proven to cause long term damage to their emotional development. Maybe try soothing whilst in the cot to help get your baby comfortable in there

It would probably work, your baby would likely sleep better, if it feels right and it’s what you want to do. 
Remember that baby sleep isn’t linear and it’s very normal for babies who previously slept through to have periods of time of more wakefulness throughout the night. Especially at this six month point, babies are going through a TON (teething, crawling, sitting up, solids) and that causes a lot more night wakings and needing mama more throughout the night. It’s exhausting and difficult- but temporary. Hang in there mama you’re doing great xx

We did the Ferber method and it worked after a few nights! My son went from cosleeping and needing us by him to fall asleep to putting himself to sleep for bedtime and all of his naps! It’s kind of like cry out method but you let them cry for a few minutes then go in and let he them know you’re always gonna come back and each time you increase the amount of time between visits until they fall asleep! My son never cried for more than 5 minutes at a time but all babies are different. If you’re hesitant about just letting your baby cry this method is great because you can go back in and check as long as they’re crying! Look it up and you’ll find the exact times in between check ins and so forth. Good luck momma!

Please don’t do CIO. They need to build that trust that you’re there. Try to comfort baby. They stop crying bc they think no one will come for them and it’s a survival instinct...they produce larger amounts of cortisol even after they fall asleep if they are left to CIO and that’s bad for them :(

I think this is a cry it out hybrid but what I did was lay her in bed drowsy. If she cries I let her cry for 2 minutes then go comfort her. Then 3 mins, 5 mins, 7 mins, 10 mins...but I've never had to go past 5 minutes before she's asleep. By "comfort" I give her her binky, stroke her tummy and face and hands until she closes her eyes again. She now sleeps from 9 pm to 8 am.

My LO went through sleep regression at four and six months. She had slept 8 hours through the night since 4 weeks and then she was up to 12, but the 6 month regression was terrible. We just slept trained her with the Ferber method this past week and she puts herself to sleep for naps and bedtime and if she wakes up in middle of night she puts herself back to sleep. I highly recommend Ferber method. They need to learn to soothe themselves. She still is the smiliest and happiest baby even with crying a few nights.

Can she sleep in your bed? Would that settle her? Anything for a good nights sleep! Totally normal to still want night feeds at this age. My baby is nursing more at night at the moment and I think she must be going through a growth spurt! Does your baby have a pacifier or comforter toy? X

Yes, we do cry it out. Our pediatrician even said it was fine to do so. We let her cry for about 5 minutes, then check on her and give her her pacifier, then it’s 7-10 minutes the next time. Usually it only takes one time, every once in a while it’s twice but then she’s out.

I don’t do cry it out. When my baby went through the 4 month sleep regression I ended up bed-sharing for a few weeks then put a blankie from my bed in his bed and he was fine.
I saw someone else mention ear infection... might be worth looking into if baby hasn’t been in recently. Some babies don’t get any obvious symptoms of ear infections. I took my baby in for his 6 month check-up, thought he was healthy as could be because he wasn’t acting different, then doctor was like “surprise, Mom, he has a double ear infection.”
