freaking out!!
I was prescribed metronidazole vaginal gel for BV a few days ago that I’ve been taking the past 3 days and I decided to read the little paper in the box and it said that the gel “crosses the placental barrier and enters the fetal circulation rapidly” and about intrauterine deaths in mice studies. Obviously I’m not a mouse, but this information freaked me out. I used to get BV almost every month before pregnancy. I’m 33 weeks now and haven’t had it until now which I didn’t have my usual symptoms and it wasn’t bothering me. Would the infection have hurt my baby if I didn’t treat it with this medication? I wish there was another treatment for BV or that it would go away on its own because reading that really scares me. I hope my son is okay. 😥
