Boyfriend bought me an eyeshadow palette for Christmas then said...

Don’t wear too much makeup. My boyfriend is a lighter skin tone than I am so no matter how little I put on it will rub off once he kisses me. I don’t think he understands that. All makeup transfers, and I also enjoy wearing it, it makes me feel pretty. Whenever I go out to coffee shops, stores etc. I get compliments on how nice/natural my makeup looks so I don’t get why he would say wear less. When I told him this he was like “Hold on, who’s everyone.. you’re supposed to get compliments from me.” Then he said it again after he ordered the makeup today, not to wear too much. My mom believes he’s saying that because he doesn’t want me to attract attention from other men. What do you think? I’m honestly tired of hearing it and enjoy dressing the way I like.
