Is it silly to go to a walk in clinic just to have them confirm if you have cold sores or not?

Mouth that he swears isn’t a cold sore because it’s not painful. I think it is because he doesn’t get “pimples” anywhere else. He just woke up with one and yet again is denying that it’s a cold sore so I asked him to just go to the clinic and get tested now to prove it. I would like to know if they’re cold sores since he shares spoons with our one year old and kisses her and stuff so if he has a cold sore outbreak I would want him to refrain from those things until it’s over you know?
