20 month potty training

K

Is it too early?

We took our pediatricians advice and started communicating with our daughter regarding the potty "mommy is going to go potty now, see this is where the pee pee goes." "I see you poo pooed in your diaper! That's great! Soon you'll poo poo in the potty!" And other things like that..

Well a week or two ago she pulled her pants down and tried to sit on the toilet...which was too tall so she couldn't get up. But I took that as a sign of interest and some understanding of what it's for. So this weekend I went out and bought her one of those toddler potties that look like a mini version of the real thing with a flush handle and all. I've sat her on it a couple times after diaper changes and last night she peed in it for the first time.

Is she ready to start formally potty training? Or should we keep just giving her opportunities to sit on it and communicate about what it's for until she's over 2?
