My 9 days late baby delivery... my story

Karen

My baby was due November 20th. She had other plans. We went to 41 weeks and 2 days: our scheduled induction day.

Luckily early morning of, I had about 3 hours of horrible contractions. My induction was supposed to be Cooks catheter and pitocin but I lucked out and only needed 1mL/hr of pitocin as those AM contractions moved me from 1cm 50% to 3cm 80%. I had hoped they would keep coming and I'd not need anything, but after they stopped I gave into induction.

The pitocin wasn't at all as bad as I thought. This was my second labor. Both I went to 6cm before epidural. The contractions weren't any worse pain than non-induced but they came more frequently.

My last epidural failed (2 hours later), so I wasnt optimistic. And it held this time! However, I did have a horrible reaction and my BP crashed immediately after. They popped it up quickly and I was exhausted from it so I took a nap. When I woke they said I'm 8cm and just need the head to get around something, and moved me to my side saying when I feel more pressure it's push time. 20 minutes after I woke up I pushed for about 8min, like 5 contractions, and she came out screaming - literally, she was crying while one shoulder was still not through yet!

My post-Thanksgiving baby weighed 7lb 5oz and was 20.5in long.

We are 4 days post partum now and doing great. She regained birth weight and 4oz by 3 days post partum, but started cluster feeding last night so she's going to fill out her lean frame quickly. And no nursing pains this time around, knock on wood, not even a crack. My toddler is in love and is so protective of her. I'm exhausted but everyone is doing great.
