Do you let strangers talk and marvel at your baby?

Question

So I was in the store earlier and an older woman noticed my baby and was talking to her which I’m totally cool with. She came up after to me saying I’m so good because sometimes other people will like pull their babies or dogs away from her when she talks to them. I have no problem with people talking to my baby and saying how cute she is. As long as you’re not touching my baby you’re fine with me. I’m curious how others feel about it￼

Talking is fine. Touching is off limits and also trying to give them treats is a no.

I don’t care, as long as you’re not touching, and getting all up in their space. My toddler is extremely social, and wants to interact with everyone, and has been that way since she was an infant. She literally told everyone that walked by us in Target today that “they sooo cute!” 😑 She also pissed off another toddler because she called him a baby, and he was for sure older than her. 😂

This is ganna sound so horrible so don’t attack me lol but sometimes when I’m at the store I just wanna get my things and go and I’ve noticed a lot of elderly people will stop and make faces or talk to my baby and me and of course I know they are lonely but I mean my word I just wanna do my shopping in peace! 😂😂 so I let them make faces and talk but I try really hard to cut it short without being rude

As long as they don’t touch her I’m fine. I don’t allow strangers to touch my baby. 
I had an old woman stare longingly at the grocery store once. I asked if she’d like to take a peek at my baby. She was 2 weeks old. She said yes and smiled at her while she slept in the buggy. She said it made her day. 
Now that baby is older she will smile at strangers some and “talk” to them, but we do keep our distance a little. Especially during flu season.

Our daughter had a ton of hair since birth, taking her anywhere we get loads of comments on her hair and how cute she looks. I don’t mind people talking to her at all especially the older folk, it’s nice to know my little girl made someone smile that day 😊.

If I had a small child I would be happy for other people to talk to him or her, including strangers, as long as I, my husband, or someone else we knew and trusted were present. That's how socialization happens, at least in part. Interacting with strangers is part of learning how to function in the world and in life.

Oh yes always. My baby’s a smily guy and loves to smile at people in stores. It’s charming. People, especially old ladies, like to coo over him and make him smile. It can brighten a persons day. I also like to look at other people’s babies and coo over them. I’ve never had problems with people touching him, they mostly just smile and laugh and tell me how sweet he is, which brightens my day.

I always let them. But sometimed i just want to get in the store and get out... my daughter has bright red hair so she is essentially a giant beacon- everyone stops me, asks about her hair (i dont have red hair and neither does my husband). And now that im pregnant they ask about that too. I dont want to be rude so i always talk to the person but try to keep walking so its short lol.

From a distance sure but when people start trying to touch and get up close and personal it makes me very nervous !

I love sharing the joy my kids bring! I’m not ok with strangers touching my babies though. And I won’t force my kids to interact
