ABA therapy for autism?

Anyone have experience with this type of therapy? They recommended it for our son and it seems lengthy and really expensive! Is it worth it? Tia

I don’t have any personal experience with it. But A family a follow on Facebook does. Look up fathering autism on Facebook. They have really good videos on how aba therapy works and what’s it’s done for their family.

please do it. do everything possible to help your child be fully independent it helps with understanding and behavior. aba doesnt use negative behaviors punishment anymore. I think it's better in life to do everything you could rather than not. those people that havent done it eont know your childs level nor you don't know if they are extremely high functioning..

My son was diagnosed in October, and I actually called today to talk to a center about ABA. I’m on the fence. My son’s behaviors aren’t extreme, but of course we have our challenges. I can’t decide if his case is worth the extreme investment in time, especially because the sessions generally don’t include the parents. I’m afraid I’ll lose what little time I get with him, because I work full time on nights. Mornings are all I get.

Do you have Reddit? I wish I had the exact group but recently deleted the app. Maybe r/Autism. Anyways... it was what I read there why I decided not to start ABA for my son. Many, many adults and teens who had ABA therapy that swear against it. I know it’s pushed so much but I want you to go there and talk to people who have had ABA therapy. It’s why I decided against it. 
I think you need to do your own homework. I don’t know your son and I’m not qualified to say what’s best for him. Really no one knows. But I do wish you the very best! We struggle every day and it helps to connect with people that are going through the same thing. Know that your son is exactly who he is meant to be.
