Overbearing Parents. ðŸ˜ðŸ¤¬
I've got a stressful situation that I'm having a difficult time coping with.
My husband's mother and father are very sweet, but very overbearing. My niece (husband's sister) has a 1.5 year old little girl. She loves to video chat.
The hubs and I were out to dinner tonight and our phones started blowing up with missed calls and texts. Such as "What are you doing? The baby wants to talk." And "Why do you not want to talk to the baby? We've been on for 15 minutes." These were from both parents. My husband immediately told them to stop with the guilt and we could not answer at dinner with four other people.
My husband has been drawing these boundaries his whole life and let it roll off his back. I, on the other hand, am stressed out. We are TTC and the thought of having to deflect and hard stop this woman with our own little one is unnerving me. Their overbearing nature is so toxic.
Has anyone ever dealt with this before? How did you navigate?
