Totally Different Tastes...HELP!

My husband and I are having the hardest time coming up with a boy name because our tastes are very different.

He likes very generic, plain 80s/90s style names and I like names that aren't made up but are more modern and have a little pizzazz.

We tend to go for his style for the first name with the ability for a nickname that is more my style.

For example: Our daughter's name is Savannah and we call her Savvy. If this baby is a girl her name will be Roxanne and we'll call her Roxy. He even asked if we could name our daughter after my very 90s name (Tiffany).

So far the only name he's brought up is Eric. I have suggested Sebastian (Bash), Jeremiah (Remy or Miah), Kingston (King) and a few others and he's knocked them all down.

Does anyone have suggestions for names that are pretty simple and were probably popular in the 90s that lend themselves to a cooler nickname? I am thinking of suggesting Alexander (Lex) but I just don't love Alexander for some reason but I feel like I won't really be in love with anything he likes. Boys are tough!
