Codeine?

So on Friday I started coughing, not bad.. but it’s there. Saturday & Sunday it hit FULL throttle. Everytime I cough, it hurts to breathe after and I’m wheezing/gasping for air. I’ve been taking Tylenol cough syrup but that shit isn’t helping.

We went to the hospital yesterday night because I was throwing up and there was a fair amount of blood coming out. Which being 33 weeks pregnant, it freaked me out and we went.

They said my lungs were “clear” and they couldn’t prescribe me anything since I’m pregnant, which I called BS.

Well I had my OB work up appointment today and she listened to my lungs and they were most definitely NOT clear. Stupid hospital. and prescribed me an inhaler, and cough syrup with codeine.

My question is, is codeine safe to take? I asked her and she said yes but when I looked it up it was saying the baby will become dependent on it and may be born with breathing problems.

Has anyone ever been prescribed cough syrup with codeine?
