Well, nobody's going to offer you a vacuum birth unless it's safer than a normal vaginal birth under the circumstances. It's not the safest for a straightforward birth, but it is the safest in other situations.

When i has my daughter, we didn’t know she was sunny side up. I pushed for four hours. She basically got stuck and I tore internally. It was the safest for them under my circumstances. They cut me and vacuumed her out. She came out crying and was absolutely beautiful. Shes now almost two. If I didn’t do the vacuum it would have been an emergency c section and they said the chances of more tearing on me was higher. I’m glad we did the vacuum. Recover went smooth as well.

I had a vaccum assisted delivery and it was either that or csection. After 4 hours of pushing i needed help lol. 
She has a bruise on her head for a few weeks but it went away. There are of course risks to a vaccum assisted delivery but they wont offer it unless it's necessary and the alternative is surgery which has more risks.
