Really scary night, ladies! Just to vent!

Kristin

Oh ladies! Let me tell you! Last night was so scary and emotional! I am 25 weeks pregnant and had, earlier in the day, my 6 month growth scan. Everything was fine and baby boy was healthy as could be. At 1:30 a.m., I got sick to my stomach. Out of the blue. After sitting on the toilet for a long time, I wiped to discover blood. A lot of blood. The 2nd wipe had giant red clots and chunks in it. Not gonna lie, I had a big moment of panic! I pulled myself together and woke my S.O. up. I told him we needed to go to the ER because I was bleeding. I also woke my mom up and told her where we were going. She volunteered to drive us.

Longest trip of my life!

At the ER, I got wheeled into L&D. They brought an ultrasound machine in and hooked up the fetal moniter. Never have I been so glad baby boy hates ultrasounds! He began pushing and kicking the wand and paddles away. We were relieved! The uterus was clear, placenta was in good shape, and the baby was strong. After a while the nurse-midwife came to the conclusion that I had a GI hemorrhoid that had burst. They were minutes from releasing me, when she asked if I wanted a cervical exam to be sure. I said yes. One uncomfortable moment later, she was pulling a bloody hand out of me and very surprised. The other RN came in and told her I had a large amount of blood in my bladder, as well.

It was coming from everywhere!

They observed me for 2 more hours and gave the diagnoses. GI hemorrhoid rupture, rupture of an exterior cervical vein, and a severe bladder infection! It was all set off by an upset stomach. Now I have been prescribed pelvic rest and limited activity for 2 1/2 weeks at the least. To let the ruptured veins heal up. My S.O. and I have never been more relieved! I was so sure that I was losing baby boy! He is our 1st, non-chemical pregnancy!
