Did padscicles really help with post partum ?

Absolutely!  I can only think those that said no either didn’t use them or didn’t use them enough to be effective.  My favorites were some you can buy on amazon because they’re more absorbent than the homemade ones.  Call your hospital and see if they provide any because they don’t do much after the first 48 hours so if the hospital has them, no need to worry about it.

I made some with aloe and witch hazel. Then put in freezer in a ziplock. Took them out to thaw a bit and they were pretty nice. Very soothing after stitches.

I didn’t need them. I used the ones you break and shake in the hospital for the first cpl hrs after my first birth. And didn’t need them after my 2nd. I heal quickly.

I'm a pediatric nurse who used to occasionally float to postpartum to help out. They always took a newborn diaper and pulled open the back part (literally broke open the layers) and put crushed ice in them and curled down the back part and used the diaper tabs to seal it shut. Then the absorbent filling of the diaper helps keep things dry!

I honestly didn't add a bunch of stuff to them. I did use tucks pads and dermaplast but I would just take a pad and spray enough water on it to soak it a bit but not saturate it, and put it in the freezer for an hour or so and then use it. I had a bunch of stitches and recovery SUCKED. The cold helped a ton.

I bought the Frida Mom kit, and I was so glad I did! It was a little expensive, but so easy to use. I only needed one of each piece, although I did get a second box of the ice pads for the days when I ended up pushing myself too hard after the three week mark.

I used them for days because I had a third degree tear and was in a lot of pain. I highly recommend having some at home. The hospital may give you some. You can make your own with pads and witch hazel as well. I’m the end it depends on how you tear when you give birth, it sounds like not everyone needed them like I did.

My hospital used newborn diapers damp with some water. They were great. I made a few more that way once I got home. I think the ice itself is the most beneficial aspect of it
