Pregnant and Cramps

I am 7-8 weeks pregnant and I have been having cramps JUST like my period cramps for 4 or so weeks. They HAVE eased up, and I went to the doctor and am waiting for a call, but has anyone else experienced this? Were you and the baby okay?
