Postpartum bathroom kit

Hey mommies. I’m a few days from popping and I’m putting together my bathroom kit. How many days postpartum do you need the big mesh undies and massive pads ? Any guidance would be helpful.

I only needed the mesh undies and giant pads while I was in the hospital. When I got home I switched to granny panties and regular period pads. Highly recommend demaplast though! That was a lifesaver after my stitches.

The hospital will provide you with giant pads and mesh undies. Ask for a bunch extra before you leave. Also, if you have a vaginal birth you will want stool softener. Take them as soon as you go into labor or if you're being induced at least the day before. Take them as often as the bottle says you can because the first pp poop is awful and stool softeners will help. And the Peri bottle provided by the hospital sucks. I highly reccomend getting baby Frida Peri bottle! Got mine on Amazon. Also get dermaplast and get a few of your pads wet and put them in the freezer.

Depends on how heavy you bleed and for how long. I needed the giant ones for a few days and after a week I just used ordinary pads.

The hospital should send you home with quite a few! I’d also get stool softener because they will likely tell you to get that as well.

To be honest I’m 16 days PP and I’m still using depends at night. I used depends every day with a pad just toBe safe I never bled through but they’re super comfortable and one less thing to wash.

Yes especially since it’s only a bit at this point and blood is thicker than urine

I’m thinking about getting depends does it absorb the blood like a normal pad since these are intended for urine??!!

I know it sounds weird, but I swear by Depends. The first week after birth I was so sleep deprived I didn't want to layer undies with pads with ice packs etc. Plus I lost some control of my bladder. No joke I peed myself in the Depends. One step and it made everything simpler for the first week. Then I used regular pads after that.

I did the same. It was much easier than dealing with massive pads.

My nurse gave my a giant bag full of mesh undies and giant pads and ice packs. She also brought a few extra tubes of analgesic cream and packs of witch hazel pads. I didn't have to buy anything.

I bled heavily for 11 weeks. I wore mesh undies for almost 3 weeks (thankfully they sent me home with a lot).

To add to everyone’s suggestions, I highly recommend getting a sitz bath for with your recovery items. I only used it with second baby and healed so much faster and easier! Also feels great to get clean.

I also got stuff I believe from earth mama that you sprinkle in the water it’s like herbs that smell like rose and help healing, escaping for my sitz bath was an enjoyable break while hubby cared for baby.

I totally forgot about that but I second this. Usually after two days of recovery with ice packs they want you to switch to heat so a warm sitz bath is great. My hospital provided one for me to take home

I bled heavy for the 1st week with all 3 of my babies, then move on to the normal pads you wear on your period.
