Too much TV?

Can having the TV on all day for your 2 year old (24 months) cause speech delay and cause them to be developmentally behind?

Answer

It depends on what is on, how “into” the show the kid is, and if you are socializing with and taking your child places besides just having them in front of a TV. Lots of factors to consider. I wouldn’t just have the tv on all day. Maybe switch to music if you want noise.

From personal experience, thanks to my ex husband, it depends on what’s being watched, but still not recommended. Educational stuff is okay, but definitely NOT all day long. My two year old barely watches tv. She’s loves coloring, reading and playing more than watching TV, but that’s because her sperm donor hasn’t been around since she was 9 months old. My other two children, unfortunately are developmentally delayed, but my 12 year old is the farthest behind! He has a TV and video has dependency, but we don’t allow TV hardly ever because we don’t watch it ourselves as adults that much.

Maybe- maybe not. My 3 year old watches plenty and talks so much. Same with my nephew lol talking so much since over a year old.
