FMLA Denied?

So my pregnancy has been kicking my ass. I had blood clots and extreme nausea for a long while. Was on bed rest for 3 weeks at one point. Now I have really bad carpal tunnel and gestational diabetes which I didn’t know at first but it explains the high blood sugar symptoms I’d been experiencing. My body is just SWOLLEN!

I was pushing through at work but my boyfriend and I saw how much it was taking a toll and we decided I should quit for now, at 27 weeks. He is the breadwinner and me not working won’t affect our bills or anything.

I put in my a 2 week notice. My boss begged me not to quit and told me to apply for FMLA which would give me 480 hours to use as I please. I wouldn’t be taking the whole day off or anything. Just an hour here or there if I’m in major pain. This way I won’t be getting occurrences. Then I could use all the vacation time I have saved for my leave after baby too. It was a great plan so I agreed and I took my resignation back.

I asked my doctor to sign the papers today to get approval and he said no. 😞 He encourages me to work full shifts until I physically cannot anymore. (Which I feel I can’t or else I wouldn’t have put in my notice)

I know some women work up until their due date and that’s amazing but I feel it should be a personal choice. I get that it’s his decision from a medical standpoint. He is the professional. Anyone else have a doctor deny them FMLA?

Please don’t respond with how much of a superwoman you are and how you worked through a million illnesses and I’m lazy etc. I commend women like that, I truly do because this is really hard but that’s just not me and I feel every person should do what’s best for them. We’re all different!
