Grandma-Shower???

Hi ladies👋 want your opinion please. We have a craft group of about 6 of us. All different ages and in stages in life. I'm the full time mon with soon to be 4 kids. 1married friend struggling to get pregnant. Other friend wants to get married but no one in sight. And our oldest friend who is about to be a grandma for the 1st time!!! We were thinking of a grandma to be shower for her! Since we dont know the mom to be. She can pass along gifts and keep what she feels she will need at her home? Thoughts, ideas? Is it wrong not to invite mom to be?

I think it 100% depends on the mom to be. Do they get along? Is someone throwing her a shower too? Personally, my mom and I don’t get along and she threw herself a sprinkle which just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. In retrospect, I get the excitement and all, but it was my first baby and I thought it was weird that she wanted baby stuff from her friends.

I would be annoyed. My mom kind of makes everything about her already so I would be really annoyed. She’s not pregnant, the Daughter or SIL is. Maybe if you were going to give her Grandma gifts.... I dunno. Really depends on the Mom to be and their relationship. Could be a setup for emotional disaster for actual Mom to be.

The mother of the baby is probably already getting a shower and all the stuff she wants. I would be annoyed to be given a bunch of unnecessary stuff to have to return. I live in a small space though. Let grandma have a party with gifts for her house only maybe?

We dont know mom to be. But we are extremely happy for grandma to be since she has been praying for her children to have kids when Gods time. We dont mean to be mean to mom ofcourse but just want to bless her in a different way.. through Grandma!!!

I agree if the mother and grandma to be have a good relationship and the mother is getting her own baby shower. I don’t see the big deal. However, if their relationships is rocky, it may rub off as rude to the mother to be. It’s a cute idea when everyone is on good terms!!
