D&C Questions

So I went to my OB December 5th, 2019 and found out our baby didnt have a heartbeat and I was only showing 8 weeks when I was 10 weeks and my OB/GYN scheduled for me to have a D&C a week later since the baby wasn't detaching or coming out on its own. I had my D&C on the 13th of December and still haven't gotten my period, the day of the surgery I bled and some the morning after but I havent gotten a period after that and I dont really know why my doctor said I was supposed to get my period by the end of the month in December and was just kind of wondering, I'm still waiting to see if it comes this month but if it doesn't I dont know what to think.
