Transfer to an out of state university

I will be transferring to a university after I finish my associates degree this year since it was obviously the cheaper option for prerequisites.

I have to start applying to colleges soon but I’m conflicted on whether or not to stay in state or go out of state.

My state is pretty boring... if I stay in state I’ll still choose to be hours away from my hometown but I’ll get to come home every other weekend if I wanted to.

I want to branch out and go against my norms.

I hate to say it but I don’t have friends anymore after high school. We all went out separate ways . The only reasons I would stay in state are my family & boyfriend.

It’s just hard to think that if I go out of state I’ll only be able to come home and see them once a month maybe or only during breaks.

Any advice from people who chose to attend college out of state? Is it crazy expensive? Is it worth the experience? How did you deal with being so far from family & significant other?
