Appendicitis in my 6th month! ππ»ππ»ππ―
I was in my 25th week when I went to my midwives last week on a Thursday with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea and feeling extremely dehydrated. I went to the hospital to make sure I could keep fluids in for my boy. They were not able to pinpoint the cause, and I ended up leaving the hospital after 12 hours of pain, tests and ultrasound, I left with a script for codeine and a lot of unanswered questions . After 6 days of trying to return to my routine with no appetite, my pain would not go away, just localized itself on my right side. My midwives had check in on my me and told me to come back if I still had pain at the end of the week.. However, by the following Wednesday, I was unable to stand up strait, and was really achy.. I called and went to the hospital, had yet another ultrasound and still nothing. The midwives opted to call for a 2nd opinion with a doctor and ordered an MRI.
The MRI showed a ruptured appendix and within 40 min, I was on the operation table. I was living with a burst appendix and a baby for 6 days. I am being discharged from the hospital today and I just wanted to share how thankful I am that it was caught in time, as I am fully aware that appendicitis can be fatal.
My baby boy my was so strong and active during the whole time and for this I am grateful as well. As much pain I have been in during the last few days, I feel closer to my baby boy, my man who has been by my side and nursed me back during my most vulnerable moments as well as my mother and father. I feel more human and humbled than I have in a while. I never wish my experienced the pain upon anyone, just to remind myself with a share how fragile, beautiful and special life is, even in its most inconvenient, uncomfortable and scary moments.
