Help! Cytotec to Induce Labor?

My husband and I went to the doctor today and found out that we will be induced Thursday night. I am 37 weeks pregnant and I have a history of serious heart problems, am at high-risk for developing preeclampsia and have an unfavorable cervix. I assumed that they would use Cervadil and Pitocin to induce but the doctor has suggested Cytotec instead. Being curious about what I should expect, I googled the drug and seen some pretty terrible stuff. I was just wondering about other women's experiences with using the drug to induce labor. Please help. I'm already high-risk and now I'm super anxious about the use of this drug to induce labor.

Yikes I personally would refuse Cytotec. They use it because it’s cheap. You can definitely say no and request cervadil. YOU decide what happens not them.

Advocate for yourself...ask if he can use the cervidil or pitocin instead. Let hom know of your concerns. I had a really laid back doctor that was more than happy to answer all of my questions. Goodluck

In my experience, induction is an altogether no unless it’s absolutely necessary. Not “risky” but NECESSARY.

I was induced with cytotec due to preeclampsia with my first and I would refuse it ever again.  It caused extremely painful contractions and fetal distress with no progression.  I ended up having to have pitocen also.  Then I hemorrhaged after because my uterus was freaking out so much from having multiple induction medications.
I wasn’t even told it wasn’t approved for induction or the risks associated with it, I found out online after.

I personally would refuse cytotec for numerous reasons. I would first try natural augmentations - sex, putting on a breast pump, etc. then pitocin

I had it without issue - dilated me appropriately in 3 hours.  Did cause some bad cramps but no other issues.

I have been induced with Cytotec twice. I don’t know regular labor, but it did what it should for me. I didn’t have any ground to stand on to fight my doctor.

I tried verbatim, Foley bulb, water breaking, and pitocin. Ultimately it almost killed the baby and I resulting in an emergency cesarean and traumatizing the absolute fuck out of me.
