Why is baby tooth paste not recommended?

So the tooth paste I bought said 0-2 years and safe if swallowed. But I have heard only water. Curious why?

Weird. I was told to use the fluoride free kids toothpaste. Been working well so far and he loves to brush

I was told floride free till they learn not to swallow. That there was no need if they drank tap water which will have floride in it already. The amount in the tal water doesn't upset their stomach as much as the toothpaste.

My daughters pediatrician said to use a rice sized amount of regular toothpaste that I use to brush her teeth.

So I just talked with our ped about this today. She said fluoride was always recommended before but it’s been found it can cause white spots on their teeth and that dentist in the area have told her no fluoride & she said there’s really no point of training toothpaste. She said there’s fluoride in our water and that’s enough. I was equally as confused, lol.

Kids toothpaste usually has a higher sugar content so your advised to give them normal fluoride toothpaste which is probably the same as what you use.
