Biting and hitting

Apparently, my child likes to bite and hit other kids at daycare when she doesn’t get her way. She does not really do this at home, so I’m kind of at a loss with how to stop her from doing it. When she does bite or hit, we sternly tell her “no!” and try to redirect her, but at a year old, I’m not even sure what all is really getting through to her. Does anyone have any tips or tricks they’ve used to combat the hitting and / or biting? I know that it’s “developmentally normal,” but obviously it still isn’t okay.
