Is this necessary to post or not? Should people just get it when a baby is born?

It’s getting closer and closer to our due date and I feel like this post is necessary to put on Facebook for my pushy family and some friends that may not be around little kids as often to understand this. Do this post below seem like it’s stuff that should be said? My wife doesn’t think we have to do this but I think it will just make things a lot easier when the time comes.
With the due date fast approaching we wanted to make this post to all the eager people wanting to meet Magnus. While in the hospital we would like to have bonding time with our little one so we ask that anyone wish to visit to please wait until we are home and settled. We would love to spend time with everyone and will reach out when we have settled to set up a visit. With visiting we do though ask that you please stay home if you have been not feeling well in the last week due to it being flu season and with that please no one kiss the baby. With her being so young and sensitive to smells we also ask that if visiting to save smoking until you are home and not before visiting.

Our baby has some complications and will be in the NICU after birth for approx 2-4 weeks. I’m requiring anyone who wants to visit once we are home to have the flu and whooping cough shot or they have to wait until baby is vaccinated (on top of all the common sense things you mentioned). Not taking any chances. One good thing about the NICU at our hospital is visitors are limited to parents and grandparents only right now. So, if you feel you need to post it so everyone is clear, I say go for it :)

I agree with your statement. I am doing the same. The first day belongs to me, my husband and our other children. Day 2 they can visit. When I leave, I don’t won’t nobody to visit my house. That’s my happy place as well as my family. I like peace when I’m home and don’t want to entertain anyone while I’m trying to recover. If your family don’t understand them to bad for them.

It should be common sense, and is for my family, but I’ve heard from plenty of others that this is an issue so I think that’s a great way to post! You are polite and explain without sounding condescending. Sometimes I see a list of demands from people regarding seeing baby and can get down to such teeny tiny details that it can offend someone since washing hands or not smoking near baby should be common sense. Yours sounds not at all demanding and perfectly reasonable, I think posting it if you have a lot of people who will be really excited to meet baby is a great idea, so no one feels left out or disappointed if you don’t invite to come visit right away!

For my family & friends it was pretty much common sense not to visit if they were sick, not to smell like smoke/perfumes. Nobody really tried to kiss my daughter. As for visitors I wanted them while I was in the hospital. But if you don’t and you don’t think people will respect your wishes then I’d definitely post it .

I remember I didn't know the, "don't kiss the baby" rule when my niece was born. I was young and no one told me it could be harmful. So, it's good to get that out there; especially if you have any teenagers or young 20s visiting that don't have kids. If they aren't doing the research/hearing it from doctors or other family members,  then how would they know there are so many rules with a newborn?

Most people won’t visit. Those who are inclined to are usually close family and friends and that is probably a conversation for the phone not fb. 
If you have smokers who might smoke right before, I would mention that, but again in person. You could let people know that a helpful option for those who want to be involved and helpful could be a meal train. People sending meals over to your house each day so your wife and you don’t have to cook and can focus on recovery and bonding.
