ABC 123?

My son is 1 years old. My in laws say that now is the time to teach ABC, numbers, how to put things in a certain area, but he has no interest. He just crawls away or wants to bang things together. He isn’t walking yet. Is it to early or should I keep pushing him?

I mean we never specifically sat our daughter down and taught her ABC and 123. We sang songs that had them and we would do a “count off” before something like “1, 2,3 JUMP” and she would then start jumping on the couch. She’s 17 months and can count to 2, sometimes 3 and she sings some of the ABC song but doesn’t necessarily know what it means.
We read tons of books which also teaches her.

What?! Haha That’s intense. I mean, sing the songs, do puzzles with the letters and numbers, but my four year old who is incredibly intelligent, is still nailing hers down at 4. It’s what’s taught in pre-k.

That’s very young. At that age teaching is through play. Count as you climb stairs,  sing songs - but don’t teach

Don’t sit him down and do it they won’t respond to that at that age. 
Do it with songs, always be singing ABC , 123 and other nursery rhymes.
We were on holiday with my nieces for 2 weeks and my son sang them abc and 123 they are both under 2 and went home singing the whole song and able to use it correctly

My son didn’t start trying to count tell about 16 months i wanna say. How we got him to want to count was making it a game. He loves being tipped upside down so we would count. 1, 2 three and dip him. He started doing it himself cause he knew three meant something fun was gonna happen. He’s 19 months and we can kind of get him to count to 6. It’s more like 1,2,3,4,6,9 lol. Just make games out of what you want him to learn and he’ll start picking it up but don’t stress they still don’t understand at this age it’s mostly mimicking

I just gave her musical toys with numbers and letter songs and buttons and she picked up on them quickly shes 28m old and can knows from 1-10 and all her abcs

I wouldn’t push! So my oldest wasn’t talking and didn’t talk till 3 she was a bit harder but my second we only listened to kid songs no TV. She really liked singing along and doing the motions of the songs. Around 16 months she was able to sing her abc’s and really got into learning and counting. That is when she took off. I never pushed it though, I let her lead the way. 
For packing away toys I taught that when they started walking and could carry things
