Best time to take Ovulation test?

So according the the instructions that come with Clear Blue Digital, it says take test with first urine. I've been reading on here that maybe the second or third urine might be better? Confused and need some advice.

I'm new to the Ovulation tests but I heard afternoon is the best and to not drink anything for 2 hours before testing.

Ok I'm sorry if this is hard to read but, is it possible that I had a surge on CD7. My cycles are between 29-30 days in length so they're not short. This makes me feel like I might have missed my chance. Glow says I'm suppose to O on Nov. 2?!? Opinions???

So this is my first time taking ovulation tests.  I started tracking daily since first day after AF. All tests showed test line faint which I understand to be negative. (All tests before today were taken mid morning.) Today, after I read about afternoon urine being best, I took my test and there was absolutely no test line visable. Was it a faulty test? The control line showed but no test line. What does this mean??? Please help. Thanks in advance.

If you think you're close to ovulation it can't hurt to test twice a day. When I know I'm close I test morning, afternoon and before bed. Some people have a very short LH surge. I try to "catch" my surge ASAP!!
