So I usually have short cycles and my period was due 5 days ago, on the day of my missed period, (Sunday) I took a test and it said Pregnant. My husband and I were over the moon, we’ve been trying for a while and this was it. I didn’t suspect it because the whole time, I felt mild cramps like it seemed like AF was coming.

Fast forward to Friday, when my occasional mild cramps started being accompanied by pink spotting in the morning. By the end of the day, the cramps intensified (but never unbearable pain) and my discharge turned red, until I just started bleeding like my period.

Of course, I was panicked. Googled, and that wasn’t a good idea. Looked on the community here, and the answers were 50/50.

I called my OB’s on call doctor and she basically said that I can do to things: go to the ER to get my labs done or wait until Monday to go to the clinic. She said as long I’m not in severe pain or soaking up a pad within an hour, I’m okay health-wise.

Emotionally, I was not okay. By this time, I have cried so many tears, I was exhausted.

My husband and MIL were worried sick so they judged me to go to the ER, and I figured I couldn’t sleep so we went, hoping there would be better news.

After A LOT of waiting, three people trying to get my blood drawn because apparently my veins were so dry (but none of them even offered me water lol jk they were all nice), and a transvaginal ultrasound.... the answers were the same: it’s too early to tell.

At first the doctor who was there, was a little cutthroat. He basically told me I tested too early and that maybe my period was just a few days late. I think he saw something in my facial expression as he was telling me that made him change his tone. He then said my bloodwork came back and indicated that I’m still pregnant, although very low. My Hcg was only an 8. And they couldn’t see anything on the ultrasound results.

He sat with me and told me he’s ruling this out as “threatened miscarriage”, not miscarriage. He said the bleeding and cramping happen during pregnancy, and half of the women who bleed and cramp go on to deliver healthy babies, and half of them lose their babies to miscarriage.

He did tell me a story that he had a young patient last week who thought her last period was December, too, but when they checked her, she was already 8 weeks pregnant! So there’s some hope.

He said the only thing we can do now is just wait.

Basically the same thing the on-call doctor told me.

We went home, I’m still bleeding but not excessively, just bleeding like I have my period.

So now I’m still in limbo. I don’t know where I am, if I’m still pregnant or not. If I’m slowly losing my symptoms or not. I’m exhausted and I just keep praying this little bean is still there. I’m just preparing for the worst, and praying for the best.
