advice on tampons?

ok so my mom told me a couple months ago that i could try tampons when i start my next period. i already went through 3 period too scared to tell her i want to try them. i’m suppose to start it on Friday. should i ask her to go buy me some? and any advice to using them?

Just ask her to pick some up for you! I hate tampons, personally, so they’re not for everyone. My only advice is to try until you get it right! It can be uncomfortable at first, you’ll just have to play around with inserting them. Everyone’s vaginas are different. Mine is long and tilted so when I insert a tampon, i have to push it farther than the applicator will go and I can feel it go off to the side a bit. Also, avoid pulling out a new, dry tampon if you can, it hurts like hell.

I know it’s scary but just ask her. She’s already said you could try them. So she’s probably just waiting to know when you need them. I can’t give advice on using them as I prefer pads.

I would, I started using them my second period and never looked back.  Don’t be scared, periods are completely normal, and it’s normal to try different products to see what’s best for you.  Get a smaller size to start, with a plastic applicator (I like tampax pearl) and insert it slowly but firmly.  No need to force it in place.  Good luck!
