Breast Pump??

Hey mama’s! Expecting ftm here, i am due in May! I am planning on breast feeding for as long as possible and have questions about pumps. I am wondering if i can just get by with a manual pump and a haakaa? Manual pump has less parts to clean and whatnot. What are your thoughts? Let me know!! Thanks:)

I could barely get drops with a manual pump but flood an electric.  I usually get about 3 oz at a time with the haaka but it definitely doesn’t empty my breast.  If I don’t pump or nurse after, then I get blocked ducts.  It’s really not difficult to clean an electric pump at all though.  Same parts to clean as the manual pump I had.

Honestly I would try to get a double electric pump if I were you.  Your insurance will probably pay for it as most insurance do now.  A manual pump would be good to have if you are going somewhere for the day and dont want to take your electric with you.   a hakka is a great idea.  I have found with manual pumps it is not as easy.  It Takes a while to get a let down and you can only pump one breast at a time which is not only time consuming because you need to pump 15 to 20 minutes on each breast but it is also hard on the hands.  If you have an electric pump with a pumping bra you can pump both breasts at the same time which saves time, you get a let down faster, and you can be hands free to do other things.
