Attempt ECV or just schedule a c section?

Question

If your baby was breech at 37 weeks, would you try to flip him/her with an ECV or would you just opt to have a cesarean? Why?
My baby is breech and they want to do an ECV but I’ve heard mixed things about it. Any stories/advice is appreciated!

I am scheduled to have an ECV on the 28th! I will be 37 weeks 6 days. I want to try everything possible to have a vaginal birth, but he’s already 7 pounds and it might not work with me being a FTM. If it doesn’t work I’m going to tell them to go ahead and schedule the C-section ASAP. I’m tired of being pregnant now lol. Hopefully he turns though and stays head down. I know if I don’t at least try I will regret it. I’ve watched videos on ECVs and it doesn’t look too bad!

I had an ECV with my first baby. It was somewhat painful (some OBs provide pain meds but mine didn’t), and it was unsuccessful so I ended up having a csection. However, if i have another breech baby I would try it again, because the risk v. reward of it working and avoiding a csection is still worth it to me.  From what the doctor told me, the worst case scenario with the ECV is you end up with an emergency c section, so I felt I had little to lose. Good luck!

I think I would want to attempt to flip before jumping to a c section. Just bc I would want to avoid a major surgery if I could.

Had a failed ECV one week ago at 36 + 6. It was painful but doable. I don’t regret it because I know myself and I would have been wondering the whole time if it would have worked. But honestly if you have everything going against it being successful like I did (first baby, Frank breech, anterior placenta, low amniotic fluid levels) I would skip it because it is so so unlikely to be successful. ￼

My baby is also breech and I'm currently 37 weeks. The doctor won't attempt an ecv on me because I'm a FTM and he said muscles are still tight and therefore likelihood of baby flipping back is high. I don't want a c section I've always dreamed of a vaginal birth but of course nothing goes exactly as planned! Dr is going to schedule c section for 39 weeks.

I have an appointment next week to check and see if baby is still breech. If given the option I will be attempting the ecv.

For me the recovery of c section n possibility of it being longer n complications makes me say no to it everytime. Id try ECV Good luck deciding

I haven't read of alot of risks with ECV so I would go with that vs a major surgery. The good thing is if something did go wrong or it was unsuccessful you would be able to have a C-section.
