Hopefully some relief soon!

🙈

It can be so frustrating when professionals don’t take your history into consideration and just fob you off. I’ve always struggled with my iron and told my midwife this from the start of this pregnancy. I also told her that with my first my levels dropped to 8!

She said they’d keep an eye on it (checked it twice. Saw that it dropped the first time and by the second check it was at 6!) Then acted all surprised and asked how I was feeling. I told her I was bloody exhausted, their solution: start iron tablets. I’m already on a prenatal that has iron in it as well, obviously wasn’t very helpful. I just jumped through their hoops. Feeling like I’m not being listened to even though I warned them this would happen. I took my tablets in the afternoon with orange juice and not at the same time as my prenatals and no calcium, clearly done this before!

Now, four weeks later I’m feeling even worse, heart palpitations, breathlessness, dizzy spells and bone exhaustion. My midwife saw me yesterday and was very concerned and wanted to get it sorted ASAP. Spoke to a specialist for advice then sent me for bloods to recheck my iron. I’m waiting for a call this morning to see whether I’m getting an infusion (if my iron is still low) or if I need to be hooked up to an ECG.

Just a little frustrated (hormones I’m sure) because I feel like all the hassle and worry could have been avoided if they listened to me and kept a closer eye on my iron like I wanted before it got this bad.
