Burping tricks ?

Question

How long do u spend burping ? only Bf and I keep reading that means they get less aur but my baby seems so uncomfortable after feeds at night sometikes he’s up for hours 
Not sure if it’s gas but he’s too young for gripe water, pacifiers aren’t helping and eventually after crying some he will nurse and then sleep but if he’s gassy how come he wants to eat more ? Is it comfort nursing ? 
How can I get better burps to help make him more comfy- I do over the shoulder and that seated 🪑 position on my lap where h hold their face

In addition to patting their back, try rubbing in a circular motion right between the shoulder blades. I usually alternate these 2 things and get good burps out of my daughter.

Thanks ebeyeone ! If I don’t get a burp but hold him upright for 10-15 min at night js it ok to lie him back to sleep

Try gas drops! Also, after a feed try to keep her up right for 10-15 min to let the milk settle in her belly. It’s common for babies to be fussy at night honestly, just hang in there bc it gets easier :)

Try probiotics for sure.  You can also give gas drops from day one, but they don't really seem to do much for either of my babies. If you think it is gas you can also put gentle pressure on their tummy, bicycle their legs, take both legs and bend them in their tummy a few times or massage their tummy in a clockwise direction.  You can also apply a warm compress and that will sometimes help.  
Otherwise try burping in different positions.   Upright over your shoulder, on their tummy across your lap, or in a "sitting" position where you hold their head and chin (look at videos first so you do it safely)

If you have a fast and strong let down, try expressing or pumping just past your let down. It should save baby from gulping air and stop some of the gas troubles. Also try bicycling baby’s legs and gently bringing legs to the chest to help relieve some of the gas.

I’m using probiotics drops instead of gripe water. My daughter is five days old. 
She gets gassy too but doesn’t enjoy burping very much so, instead, I just hold her with her head elevated for about ten minutes after every feed. If she starts burping, hiccoughing, or coughing during a feed I make her stop and elevate her more - again, for up to ten minutes, or until she gets control of herself. 
It’s important not to lie them back down on their back too soon after feeds. I’m sure you know that though. 😉 Try lying your baby on their side or tummy after you’ve given them a bit of extra time to digest.
