What is a third key holder?

So i work at the retail for 5 months. Now my store manager offered me to be a temporary third key holder with the increase of $1/h( instead $9 i will get paid $10). Is anyone had experience with this job position? Can someone please explain what is it? Is it starting of management?

It’s basically you just have a key to open and close if the first 2 key holders aren’t in , Ive been a key holder in all the companies I’ve worked in one being a supervisor role the other just a sales assistant I wouldn’t really call it a step closer to management however it does mean they believe you are trustworthy and responsible which goes good against you if any higher positions become available that you may apply for

Pretty much means if one of the other key holders are out or on vacation you may be asked to open or close
